The obverse depicts the Royal Couple at the ribbon cutting ceremonies of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre - Symbols of Hong Kong's prosperity through trade and cultural development. The Couple are shown in high relief against a background of the buildings. The reverse features the Official Seal of Hong Kong, created by the decree of Queen Victoria in 1842. Below the mangnificently emblazoned Hong Kong of Arms, English and Chinese trading vessels ply the harbour, symbolising the early prosperity that continues today.
