Gold coins with a face value of $1,000 were made legal tender for the payment of any amount with effect from May 5, 1975 - the date when a proof version of the coin was presented to the Queen in the City Hall. Since that Hong Kong issued year of animal gold coins every year until 1987. There are two versions each year. One is Uncirculated and one is Proof version.
